Spring back into action – safety at the gym in the time of Corona

The Bloc Fitness

With spring in the air and our step, we are excited to jump back into our health and wellness activities. The reopening of gyms has come at a good time for our friends at The Bloc Fitness who have recently rebranded from BMC Crossfit Blouberg.

Their new name and mantra of “Building Better Humans” is spot-on for more community-based and specialized gyms. People are looking to minimize their exposure to large communal spaces, but still want to keep fit in a safe and community-focused environment. An added benefit of visiting The Bloc is their on-site cafe that serves lovely brews.

Matt Holliday, the owner of The Bloc, is taking the health and safety of all his members seriously and has posted a great video on the gym safety protocols which can be viewed below.

myUTOPIA

For those nearer the CBD, myUTOPIA has ensured their tribe is safe at their boutique and beautiful studio in the cruise terminal. If you’d like to see how they’re doing it, visit their dedicated Covid Protocols page.

We have personally experienced myUTOPIA with our year-end function in 2019, which included a class with PK. It’s a motivating and fun space to be in, the facilities are immaculate and exquisite. We all felt like it was a gym/spa experience as it has that “escape to a serene sanctuary” feeling as you enter. During lockdown, we experienced their online classes, which kept us going mentally, physically and spiritually.

Be sure to check out their site. Sandi Dekker and her team would love to help you on your wellness journey.

Sleekgeek

Our long-time client, Sleekgeek, is an almost exclusively online community. Elan Lohmann, the founder of Sleekgeek, quit corporate life to begin his inspirational journey in health and wellness. His goal is – to change 1 million South African’s habits to be more healthy and build a better life. Sleekgeek holds 8-week transformation challenges that provide resources, a community for support and a baseline for building healthier, sustainable habits with amazing sponsored prizes for extra motivation.

Elan and Eric Chowles (co-Founder) host a very interactive community on Facebook, Sleekgeek Health Revolution, with over 91,000 members. There is a ModSquad, or moderators, who, as part of the community, check that no content on the page is against their community values. Elan and Eric have several challenges, communities and resources on their website and even offer individual and group coaching.

Sign up for one of their upcoming challenges here and get yourself fitter and healthier for the future.

CrossFit False Bay

We welcomed another community facility reopening that is full of competitive spirit and fitness enthusiasts in the Tokai area. The CrossFit False Bay Gym can best be described as a supportive and competitive environment with family inclusivity where children can play while their parents train, it opens up the community to be a welcoming space. Check out their community ties with other health and wellness providers in the area here

Nico van de Walt and the team from CrossFit False Bay are excited to welcome you to their community. To find out more, check out their site

With so many communities to join on and offline, wellness for Spring is certainly on the way.
