Things to consider when crafting your brand

As you start your business journey, or look to grow your business in the coming years, having a strong and clear brand is so critical. We decided to unpack the key elements to crafting and building your brand, and are using the Iridium story to illustrate it for you!

1. Define your brand identity

Before you create a logo or design your website, take the time to define your brand identity. Ask yourself key questions: What is your mission and vision? What values and principles will guide your business? Who is your target audience, and what problems will your product or service solve for them? Your brand identity should be a reflection of your business’s unique story and purpose.

At Iridium, we want to be innovative accountants combining technology and great communication skills to support SME’s in SA. We have 6 values that we hold strongly to and the team lives out daily.

2. Craft a memorable logo and visual identity

Your logo is the face of your brand, so invest time and effort into creating a memorable one. It should convey the essence of your business and be adaptable across various platforms and materials. Consistency in your visual identity, including color schemes, fonts, and design elements, will help establish a cohesive and recognizable brand image.

Typically accounting firms have pretty boring brand identities. We decided to think a bit differently!
A strong icon, bright and cheerful colours and a name that isn’t typically associated with accounting…that’s how we roll!

3. Tell your story

Consumers are more likely to remember a compelling story than the product features you tell them, as stories build emotional bonds with consumers. Share your journey, the inspiration behind your business, and the values that drive you. Use storytelling in your branding to create a sense of authenticity and relatability.

If you follow us on social media, you’ll notice we love telling the stories of our team (their success stories and news) and congratulating our clients on business developments. Stories are there to be shared and celebrated and we love doing just that.

4. Be patient and persistent

Didn’t get that viral moment you were hoping for? Building a brand takes time. Don’t be discouraged by slow growth. Stay persistent and committed to your brand vision. Over time, your efforts will pay off, and your brand will become a trusted name in your industry.

Iridium began 10 years ago around a dining room table. We’re now a team of nearly 60 people strong and that’s because we never gave up.
